THE CASE OF RAVEN-SYMONE

“Raven is a really Beautiful, Sweethearted, Human Being. I should know. Her Mother and I Love her Very much and will always support her and have her back. Even if sometimes………. she says some dumb S#%T!”

The above comment comes from the father of the attention-seeking Raven Symone. Raven’s latest comment about not hiring people with “ghetto-sounding” names has sparked a firestorm of controversy and there are many who are calling for her firing.

She shocked her fellow co-hosts on this past Thursday’s episode of ABC’s THE VIEW when she stated that she would never put anyone on the payroll with a “ghetto” name.

”I’m not about to hire you if your name is Watermelondrea. It’s just not going to happen.”

RS

Truthfully, it shouldn’t matter if a person’s name is Friedchickenata (since she wants to go there).  No child comes into this world with the ability to name themselves.  Discriminating against another person for any reason, is a form of bullying.

By the way, Raven(who was apparently named after a black bird) has a domestic partner whose name is Az Marie(does that sound ghetto?).  Pardon me if that offends Ms. Az…………………

I guess when one is going through an identity crisis, such as the one that Raven (the black bird) is going through, one can expect that person to say or do anything.

On Sunday she posted what some are calling an apology.  Here it is:

“I’d like to begin by saying that I was not attacking a specific race, but repeating a name that was said in a viral video which has received over 2 million likes,  “My comment was in poor taste. My lack of empathy towards name discrimination was uncalled for….As an equal opportunity employer, I have never discriminated against a name….even though I said I would, it’s not true. I have been denied many jobs because of my skin color, body size, and age. Each time I was rejected, my self-esteem was negatively affected, so I empathize with those who feel victimized by what I said. We would hope that when it comes to hiring, our names, physical appearance, sexual orientation, and age would never outweigh our qualifications, but often times, they do, that’s the truth and it sucks. But I should not be part of the problem, I should be part of the solution.”

Was all of this gibberish that she wrote because of the public backlash she received after her initial comment.  It must have been or she wouldn’t have made the asinine comment in the first place.  Since this is not the first comment that Raven made to distance herself from people of color, someone decided to try to assist her in moving further along.

Loyal reader A. Renae sent me this letter that is circulating on Facebook.  You’ve got to tell me what you think about it.

Dear white people,

As a 35 year old standing member of the Unbothered
Blacks of America Club, I hereby declare, with a unanimous vote from all other
Blacks of substance, that you guys are free to have raven-symoné.

Initially,
we were pleased to have raven be a part of our community. From the precocious
kid we all grew to love on the Cosby show to the self made multi millionaire who
managed to build an entire empire off of being comedic (but goofy), we felt that
we truly had a gem amongst us.

But as time progressed, we began to notice
attitudinal changes and inconsistencies that do not align with the standards set
forth within our community. From asserting that there are several continents in
Africa to now openly admitting that she wouldn’t hire some one with a “ghetto”
name (when her own name is hyphenated, has an “alternate” spelling, and makes
use of an unnecessary accent…all of which could also be deemed “ghetto”),
we’ve absolutely hopped off our last leg of hope with this young lady, and
again, wish to pass her straight on over to you…effective immediately. Since
you guys are far more consistent with inconsistency and discrimination, we feel
that our offer is substantial but do not need to be thanked for it.

We at
UBAC thank you for taking our offer into consideration. Please respond with
proper mailing details for package receipt and sign the enclosed documents,
which offers detailed biographical information on raven-symoné, a letter of
recommendation via stacy dash (a former member of UBAC that we provided you with
several months ago), and detailed information regarding our “absolutely no
fucking returns” policy, all of which are standard with each offer
sent.

Again, no need to thank us for our generous offer. Typical senses of
entitlement lead us to believe we wouldn’t get one anyway.

You’re
welcome,

Unbothered Blacks of America Club

PS: you may find it extremely
beneficial to offer raven-symoné a few lessons on discrimination within the gay
and lesbian community, as her delusions of grandeur may have helped her to
forget.

LEAVE YOUR UNDERWEAR… AT HOME!

A pastor in Kenya has apparently lost his mind but not his nerve. He has the nerve to forbid all women attending his service from wearing bras and underwear. There are many words that I can use to describe this man but I try to keep it positive here at studiotj. So in the spirit of positivity, I’ll just say he likes for the women of his church to feel free. Yeah, right! Check out the story below.
UNDERWEAR
*A pastor in Kenya feels that when women wear underwear, they are not as close to God as they should be so…
Off with your drawers and bras, women!
According to the Kenyan Post, Reverend Njohi said women who attend his services at the Lord’s Propeller Redemption Church in Nairobi are forbidden from wearing bras and underwear. Njohi said when going to church, people need to be “free in body and spirit” so they can receive Christ.
Now, I don’t mean any disrespect here but, can’t you just picture God shaking his head and saying, “Forgive Him my people, he done lost his mind.”
Of course this rule only applies to the female population because men, it appears, can reach God just fine with their underwear on.
This isn’t an optional thing either, according to Metro:
The pastor added there would be grave consequences if his female members did not adhere to the new rule, which was reportedly adhered to as most women are said to have attended the next service with no underwear.
Mothers were told to check their daughters to make sure they don’t have underwear on, so they can be close to Jesus.
Thanks to Jezebel.com for excerpts of this article.

SEEING IS BELIEVING…

This is one of those scenes that if you told some people about, they probably would not believe you. Perhaps they have their blinders on as to what really still goes on in this country. In this social experiment, you get a view for yourself. Take a look and you be the judge:
A Black Man and White Man Break Into the Same Car, Guess Which One Cops Swarmed? (Watch) (warning: NSFW language)

CARS
*Jason Roberts, a host on the YouTube channel Simple Misfits, decided to replicate a situation he recently encountered when calling out AAA for help getting into his locked car.
Roberts didn’t understand the looks he was getting from people questioning the motives of a mechanic who was only trying to help. Then it hit him — they were suspicious because, unlike him, the mechanic was black.
For his YouTube channel, he filmed a similar scenario so that everyone could witness the same unacceptable double standard that he had. He didn’t realize how intense the response would be.
PIGS
When Roberts attempted to break into his car, he set off the alarm again and again, but received only a few raised eyebrows. When actor Quentin Brunson took his turn, Los Angeles police were on the scene within two minutes, greeting him with profanity and a harsh attitude.
“Let me see your f**king hands,” ordered the first cop to arrive. “Get up against the wall.”
Roberts stepped in immediately, but heavy questioning followed. “One thing that he was telling me that was really surprising is that there was a female cop — I believe she was Caucasian — she came up to [Brunson] and she asked, ‘Oh, why are you so nervous? What’s wrong, why are you trembling?’” Roberts told The Huffington Post.
According to Roberts’ account, Brunson calmly explained to the cop that he’d never been arrested before. The police officer responded, “You’ve never been arrested before?”
BEFORE
Roberts’ goal for the experiment, he said, was to raise awareness. The video is spreading on the Web just days after Michael Dunn, a white man who fired on a group of black teenagers in Florida, killing one, was convicted on three attempted murder counts but escaped his most serious charge of first-degree murder. Dunn’s verdict has revived conversations about how white and black Americans face markedly different levels of suspicion and hostility in many situations.

PICTURE THIS…***UPDATE***

I realize I am a day late on this but here is the information that I promised on a previous post. You be the judge as to what is going on and please make wise decisions accordingly.

One of the loyal readers of this blog contacted me to look into her situation involving Georgia Farm Bureau. I was really not prepared for what I found. I initially thought that this was a case where the reader had been overlooked and the situation would easily be resolved. Boy was I wrong. For the sake of her confidentially, I am not going to list her name just yet. Here’s what I know. Mrs. Smith (not her real name) returned to her home from California to find that her ceiling was leaking in several places in her home. As a 10 year customer of Georgia Farm Bureau, she called them to file a claim. As a matter of fact, instead of me paraphrasing, I will let you read the email that she recently sent to them:

Greetings Georgia Farm Bureau,

My name is____________. My home at ______________ is insured by your company (Georgia
Farm Bureau) Policy #__________. Over the past couple of years, there have been numerous communications between your company and me. My complaint for repairs to the aforementioned
home address, has essentially been ignored (yes, I said ignored!!!). This has taken a toll on an individual
who prides herself in paying all of her bills on time, including insurance premiums to your company, over the last ten years. One of the proudest moments of my life was when I purchased my home. After I made this investment, I wanted to find the best insurance company possible to protect my investment. I chose Georgia Farm Bureau. However, that decision has turned out to be a huge mistake. This is where I’ll start. At this point, I am so frustrated with the service that I have received from your company that I almost sent a complaint letter to the Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner at 2 Martin Luther
King, Jr. Drive Atlanta, GA 30334, and the Better Business Bureau 503 Oak Place, Suite 590 Atlanta, GA
30349. With your company, I have been dealing with a claims representative by the name of Earl
Cunningham. Instead of immediately filing a complaint against you, I have decided to give you one last opportunity to resolve my issue before I go there… and elsewhere. I WILL NOT BE THE VICTIM!
I have been a loyal customer with this company for over a decade, have never filed a single complaint, and have always paid my premiums on time. I’m sure your records can confirm the same.

There is substantial damage to my roof. In the spring of 2012 you were initially contacted regarding roof damage and leakage (with apparent water spots in my ceiling). You did nothing. Then on March 18,
2013, you were notified that we had a class 4-5 hail storm (baseball-sized hail) which caused much damage to the terra cotta roofs in our entire subdivision. You then sent out a group from Macon, GA, Custard, in the spring of 2013. Their recommendation put a small bandage on a major cut. The water spots have grown exponentially. Mr. Cunningham has witnessed the new spots and the old ones that have bled through once again. Several contractors have been out and declared that my roof need to be replaced. Several estimates have been submitted to your office (including one from Clear Skies) all to no avail. There have been a number of storms since that time, most recent was a snow/ice storm, and no repairs have been done to my home (my investment). I will not sit on the sidelines any longer while my investment is rapidly depreciating in value. If my complaint is not resolved to my satisfaction by February 10,2014, my next letter will go to the Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner, the Better Business Bureau, and elsewhere.
PLEASE RESOLVE THIS ISSUE! YOU’VE HAD ADEQUATE TIME!

Regards

Mrs. Smith (not her real name) was then contacted by her agent who indicated that her claims representative would call her. When the information was passed to me, I called the insurance Agent, Michelle Phillips who referred me to their claims department. I called the claims department and was referred to the claims adjuster, Earl Cunningham. I called and spoke with Cunningham who asked that I email him and he would respond. I have in fact emailed Cunningham with no response.
I went online to check out Georgia Farm Bureau and I found a plethora of complaints against this company for refusing to pay up. I also found the following petition:
Please look into the business practices of Georgia Farm Bureau Insurance
Petition by
Don DeRossett
Duluth, GA
Because of the ultimate protection that may be afforded the public after the Commissioner investigates Farm Bureau’s abandonment of myself, my 83 year old mom and our fire loss at the home she grew up in at 1014 Wilson Rd., Rossville, Ga. 30741.
As that story is more fully told in my petition letter to the Commissioner (which you may view by clicking on the “Petition Letter” tab just above), it is not all the Commissioner should consider when looking into Farm Bureau’s conduct.
Aside from the stories that will likely emerge from others when signing my petition, the Commissioner should also attempt to determine why Farm Bureau had its “Financial Strength Rating” (FSR) downgraded 3 times and its “Issuer Credit Rating” (ICR) 4 times since 2007 by AM Best (a Financial Analysis Firm) and why AM Best currently ranks Farm Bureau’s “Outlook/Implication” on both its FSR and ICR as “NEGATIVE”. That report shows the most recent downgrades as March 29, 2012 and is linked into the DOI website and may be reviewed by clicking on;
http://www.oci.ga.gov/Insurers/NewCompanySearchDetails.aspx?DI=107996&TYPE=PC .
Once in that site, you may see Farm Bureau’s downgrade history by AM Best by clicking on the “AM Best” small logo @ right, then the blue “Georgia Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Co.” link, and then the blue “News and Press Releases” link.
Then, after review of all the above, please consider signing my petition where you may add your own valuable comment particularly if you have a similar story of abandonment at the hands of Farm Bureau, which will be added to the “Petition Update” section (which is available after you sign) and forwarded to the Commissioner. Also, please note that you do not have to live in Georgia to sign.
Then, please consider forwarding my introductory e-mail w/ link to this site (with its pictorial attachment) or this petition site itself to those you know. Thanks and feel free to e-mail me, the organizer of this petition, at donderossett@comcast.net, if you like and I will respond as I am able.
Does this seem like an insurance company that you want to be involved with? You be the judge and stay tuned. There is certainly more to come…

PICTURE THIS…

Take a look at these pictures and tell me what they look like to you. I am working on a story that I will post sometime tomorrow. I think someone is about to be put on blast. I won’t comment further until I complete my report. Be on the lookout tomorrow for more on this story that is sure to open up a few eyes.
