ALL I WANT…

Okay, okay………… James Corden is at it again. This time he has assembled an all-star cast of celebrities to sing Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas”. Have you thought about what you want? This is a good time for me to tell you what I want for Christmas. First and foremost, I want everyone to realize that the reason that we are celebrating this day is because of the birth of Jesus Christ.
Isaiah 9:6 King James Bible
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
The gifts are nice but the ultimate gift is JESUS.
Secondly, I want to spend time with my family (acting silly, relaxing, reminiscing, and just doing what we do… As far as gifts, I can’t even imagine anything that I want except for perhaps to win Powerball, or Mega Millions (now that would be real nice.) For those of you who don’t play….don’t judge me!!! lol. You definitely can’t win if you don’t play…
Lastly, I want for all of my wordpress family to enjoy your Christmas however it is that you celebrate. Just be safe and have lots of fun!!!

BECAUSE HE LIVES…

This is a hymn that I remember we sang many years ago in church.  It still has a special place in my heart.  The song is called “Because He Lives.”  AND the lyrics are still soooooooo appropriate today.  HAPPY RESURECTION DAY!

CAN YOU IMAGINE CARRYING A HEAVY CROSS?

This is one of my favorite songs especially this time of year. It is called “The Old Rugged Cross” being sung by Al Green. This is the first time I’ve heard Rev. Green sing this song and he does a great job. According to Scripture, Christians believe that Jesus was raised back from the dead after three days. He had been crucified on the cross and that death is commemorated on what we call Good Friday. The belief also is that Jesus’ death was in payment for our sins as long as we believe in Him…and I do!!! On Easter Sunday, we celebrate His resurrection. Can you imagine carrying a heavy cross and being crucified on it for someone else’s sins? I can’t imagine but… I AM GLAD HE DID.

TYLER PERRY AND “THE PASSION”

The Passion

I got this email from Tyler Perry this morning.  Check it out and click on the link below if you’re interested in going or participating:

Hey TJ,

So next weekend I will be hosting and narrating The Passion, live on FOX. When I was asked to do this I thought, “wait a second, FOX is gonna do what?” If you’re like me at that time, then you’re wondering “what is The Passion?” Well, let me try to explain. It’s not a musical like Grease or The Wiz, this is the story of Jesus Christ’s last hours on earth, told as if He were on earth today. It’s a biblical story told in modern times, set to some of today’s most popular songs preformed throughout and all around New Orleans. There will also be people, like you and me, carrying a 20-foot illuminated cross through the streets. Talk about letting your little light shine.

The reason I wanted to be involved was because I was shocked to find out how many people in this country don’t know the story of Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection. I was also shocked at the amount of people under 25 who don’t believe in anything. Our world has changed so much.

But The Passion is an amazing opportunity to retell this amazing story. My prayer and hope is that it opens a dialogue that starts a revival all over this country.

The Passion is about love, inclusion and compassion for all mankind. It’s for believers and also nonbelievers. It’s for all faiths and all backgrounds. This story doesn’t just belong to one group, it belongs to humanity. Love, forgiveness and compassion, those are things that are universal to us all. We all need them and The Passion will deliver it right into your home. When was the last time you can say you turned on the TV and that happened?

I’m calling on my audience and believers all over this country to help support this show. Please help us send a message to Hollywood that we want to see more TV shows that leave us lifted, inspired and changed. Shows that leave us hopeful.

I want to also say thank you to FOX and the creator and producers of The Passion. Thank you for bringing some balance to TV.

And I also want to say thank you to YOU. I hope you will watch and pray for us and this show. It can be quite special if we all get behind it in spirit and in faith.

If you want to see it live in New Orleans or help literally carry the cross through the streets, you can click on this link. Tickets are free here: http://thepassion.com/participate/

God bless,

Tyler

GREAT MESSAGE

praying-hands

I heard a great message

I went to church today

It had such a great impact

I knew I had to pray

Talked about making an impression

And reaching the next generation

Just to positively influence them

Is in fact a great sensation

Some think it’s about the gift of gab

And all they do is talk

Strap on those persuasive shoes

And then begin to walk

I’m sharing with you the concern

And I’ll just do my part

Hopefully… you’ll join in on this mission

And do what’s in your heart

ALL ABOUT CHRISTMAS

Lay the gifts aside and get with this:  Christmas is not about the shiny red bow on a box.  What many often forget is that this is a great time to minister to others about the miraculous birth of JESUS CHRIST and HIS saving grace.  The meaning is really conveyed here in this awesome video from the movie “The Bible”.  The song “Mary Did You Know” is being performed by Ceelo Green.

Luke 2:1, 4-5 NIV – The Birth of Jesus ] In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.

EX-CON PRAYS FOR POLICE OFFICER(S)

I found this on Christiantoday.com and thought that it would be apropos today.  Check out this interesting backdrop/juxtaposition to what we normally see in the news.

A papal visit can’t heal these wounds

The last time Edward “Doc” Amey saw Texas City Officer Salvador Chapa he was being arrested on a gun charge. That was eight years ago back when Amey used to be a gangster but recently he found God and since then he’s been living a righteous life. He used to sell drugs; today he stops police and asks if he can pray with them and more importantly, for them.”I have not always been a friend to the police,” Amey told KHOU. “I grew up selling drugs. I’ve been to prison three times.”
According to the news station, Amey’s rap sheet includes six felony convictions and several more misdemeanors. But Amey says all of that is behind him as he lives a prayerful life.”The last week-and-a-half God has really been giving me the urge to pray for police officers,” Amey said.

So when he saw Officer Salvador Chapa he asked if he could pray for him. The officer agreed and the two men held hands, bowed their heads as Amey lead them in prayer. Amey’s friend who had no idea he was going over to pray with the officer snapped a photo of the two men praying. The photo has gone viral on social media.

“I arrested him several years ago on a gun charge,” Chapa said. “And due to that, he ended up doing some time.”

Amey told the news station that he hopes the power of prayer can help change the negative image that people have of young black men and cops.

“They’re used to seeing cops getting killed by young black men or young black men getting killed by cops,” Amey told KHOU. “They’re not used to seeing an ex-con and a cop praying with each other.”

Amey told the officer, “I love you,” at the end of his prayer.

“I love you, too, brother,” Chapa said. “Thank you very much for praying for us.”

FOR THE SPIRIT

Today is Wednesday September 8, 2015 and I decided to give y’all something FOR THE SPIRIT.  This should help to carry you through the rest of the week.  The song is by Anthony Brown and Group Therapy.  It is called “Worth” and it is definitely “worth” listening to because the words are “to die for”.  This is an excellent song and it really says it all.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

MOTIVATIONAL MOMENT

I’m Gonna Be Ready: Yolanda Adams | OFFICIAL MIME VIDEO was sent to me by loyal reader A. Renae.  I’ve always loved this song but this is the first time that I’ve seen this video and it’s awesome. Enjoy the rest of the week.

Matthew 5:14,16

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

DO YOU BELIEVE?

When I saw this clip, I definitely wanted to share it with you.  This ought to be a great series presented by OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network).  It talks about the one thing that we hear or face every single day of our lives; belief.  When we talk about the word BELIEF, certainly GOD is the first thing that comes to mind.  There are some that claim that they do not believe in GOD but I find that hard to BELIEVE.  Check out this example:

I once worked with a gentleman who heard that I was a BELIEVER.  this gentleman approached me one day and told me that he did not BELIEVE in all of this fairy tale nonsense that was in the bible.  He said that he could in fact do exactly what he wanted to do.  He said that he could get out in the street and kill 20 people if he so desired.  I told him that he could only do this if GOD allowed it to happen.  He said that it had nothing to do with GOD.  I personally choose not to argue with fools and I ended the conversation.

Two years later, I pulled in the parking at work and before I could get out of my car, the same man approached me.  This time, he told me that his young daughter had been hospitalized and that things were not looking good for her.  He said, “when you go down on your knees tonight, send one up for me.”  I asked him, “who do you want me to send it up to?”  He looked confused and I reminded him that he did not BELIEVE in
GOD and of course he again asked me to pray for his daughter.  I think that people are convenient believers.

Back to the series called ‘BELIEF’ that Oprah is having on her network in October.   It really ought to be good.  Let me know what you think.
