A HOME OVER THERE…

Carnival Cruise Lines is trying to repair its’ image after 3 ships broke down last year. I guess that they remembered that prior to auditioning on “American Idol”, Jennifer Hudson, sang on a cruise ship. They have now hired her to headline a new concert series called Carnival Live. “I used to work on a cruise ship, a long time ago,” said Hudson before performing at a Carnival news conference in midtown Manhattan. “That’s what I did before I did ‘American Idol.'”
Hudson is scheduled to perform June 18 on Carnival Ecstasy and June 19 on Carnival Breeze, when the ships are in port in Cozumel, Mexico.
Every since I first saw this woman audition on Idol, I’ve been a fan. My baby sister sent me this video yesterday of Jennifer singing “Jesus Promised Me A Home Over There”. Let’s end this week on that high note!

JENNIFER HUDSON/GOOD NEWS

This is a story that makes me very happy. Many people want to hear the bad news constantly. They like the drama. I would prefer to hear about something on the positive tip like the story below. I was just having a conversation yesterday about why we are here on this planet. I think that we are here to serve others. How many people do you know that are only interested in serving themselves. I always say that they are on the radio station WIIFM (What’s In It For Me). Do yourself a favor. Change the station.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Jennifer Hudson held back tears when she accepted the favorite humanitarian award at the 2014 People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday night.
Accompanied on stage by her sister Julia Hudson, the Oscar-winning actress became choked up as she said, “My mother always taught us without family you have nothing. Whether you know it or not, we all are family. What happens to the other happens to us. It’s one thing to be a celebrity and have power, but it means nothing if we’re not making a difference and helping someone else.”
Hudson created the Chicago-based Julian D. King Gift Foundation with her sister, Julia Hudson, in honor of her nephew, Julian King, who was murdered in 2008 at the age of 7. The crime also took the lives of the Hudsons’ mother and brother. The foundation aims to provide stability and positive experiences for children.
Hudson was presented the award by LL Cool J. “It feels good to see positivity acknowledged,” she said. “Where we come from all you hear about is who shot who and who went to jail. There is more to life than the block you live on. We want to show them that I came from the same area and if I can do it, you can do it too. It does not stop there.”
Hudson’s tender moment was the only instance to strike a strong emotional chord during the show. Bestowing the humanitarian award remains a gripping current in the show primarily packed with light-hearted moments.
