After the TOTALLY UNNECESSARY VIOLENCE that occurred yesterday in Charlottesville, VA (if you don’t already know about it, google it because I’m not going to give that nonsense any more energy), the 44th President of the United States of America Barack Obama tweeted the following. Hopefully his messages will give rise to the love that this world so desperately craves. I’m also lighting a candle for the victims…

“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion…”

“People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love…”

“…For love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” – Nelson Mandela 8:06 PM – Aug 12, 2017

Today is National Siblings Day. The day was founded by native New Yorker, Claudia Evart in 1995 to honor and celebrate siblings. After losing her two siblings early in life in separate accidents, she knew how important siblings could be in our lives. I happen to have a large family and we communicate with each other regularly even though we live in different cities/states. Make sure that you reach out to your siblings today. Check out the song from 1979 by Sister Sledge called “We Are Family.”

Everywhere you go you can see signs that Valentine’s Day is tomorrow 2/14/2017. Today I began thinking about my favorite love songs and this one definitely popped in my mind. It is called “Unbreak My Heart” by Toni Braxton. As a matter of fact in my opinion this is the best song that she made. It is very laid back and has a real nice vibe.

This one’s deep. Real deep. The video was posted initially in 2015 but… I didn’t see it until 2 days ago. I usually am moved by songs/videos, AND…things that are extremely poignant. This is definitely on that level. I’m not going to tell you what you’re going to see before you see it but trust me, you’ll like what you see. On a scale of 1-10 where ten is superior… THIS ONE’S THE BEST!!!

Thanks Ann for sending this video that took me all the way back to kindergarten.  I haven’t heard this in years and when I did, I found myself singing along.  If you can’t appreciate this one, you may need to check your happiness meter.  Everyone deserves to be happy and more often than not, happiness begins with you.  As Charles Spurgeon puts it,  “It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness”.  Have a HAPPY MONDAY!!!

Sleep On

So many times you’re thought about

So many times we mourn

Our hearts are still yet bleeding

Because they certainly have been torn

The time we had to see your face

Has come and gone exceptionally fast

And yet this love you’ve let us with

For a lifetime… It will last

This heart of gold is now laid to rest

Our memories we hold remarkably near

And though we reverently yield to God’s plan

We still…wish that you were here

Goodbyes are often difficult to declare

Their pain runs ever so deep

And so we’ll never bid you adieu

We’ll just see you…as sound asleep

Today is another day that I found out that someone that I know has died.  That now makes about six people in the last six or seven months.  Although death is inevitable, it is certainly surprising at times and overwhelming as well.  Right now I’m burning a candle for all of those families who are grieving their loved-ones.  I’m  also wishing eternal peace for the deceased.  Above is a poem that I wrote some time ago and I hope it speaks to the heart of those who are trying to cope with their loss.

It gives me great pleasure to pass on some of the love that I have been given…

Blogger recognition award

The Rules:

  1. Write a post to show your award.
  2. Give a brief story of how your blog started.
  3. Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
  4. Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  5. Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to.

I want to first thank David at for honoring studiotj with this award.  As I have mentioned before, his blog is centered on personal fitness and we all need to visit his site frequently…(I’m at least speaking for myself on that one).  Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Studiotj got started as a way for me to put a positive spin on some of the topics that interests me.  I wanted to post various things and not always focus on the most negative aspect of everything.  Enough about me.  My advise to others who want to start a blog is to: 1.) Just get started and 2.) REMEMBER:  WORDS ARE POWERFUL!  3.)  Use that power wisely!  There are so many people that I want to give this to but these are the ones that come to mind.  MUCH LOVE!!!

And the nominees are:  (mopana) (marthashaw) (arcaneowl) (Xena) (cjstorm)
