MOTIVATIONAL MOMENT

LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO BE LITTLE

-ANDRE MAUROIS-

Often we allow ourselves to be upset by small

things we should despise and forget. Perhaps

some man we helped has proved ungrateful…

some woman we believe to be a friend has spoken

ill of us… some reward we thought we deserved

has been denied us. We feel such disappointments

so strongly that we can no longer work or sleep. But

isn’t that absurd? Here on this earth, with

only a few more decades to live, and we lose many

irreplaceable hours brooding over grievances that in a year’s

time, will be forgotten by us and by everybody. No, let

us devote our life to worthwhile actions and feelings

to great thoughts, real affections and enduring under-

takings. For life is too short to be little.

Many years ago I saw myself in this one.  I was venting to a co-worker about something that had happened and he said to me “you hold on to things too long”.  Wow, that really resonated with me and caused me to take a big self examination.  I learned that he was right and I constantly work on myself to see that I don’t revisit that kind of mentality.     Do you se yourself in this?

GET READY

I was going to post this song last week.  So funny, this morning loyal reader A. Renae sent it to me.  That must mean that I need to post it today.  It is by Yolanda Adams called “I’m Gonna Be Ready”.

FRIDAY INSPIRATION: “THE PRAYER”

I’ve heard many versions of this song.  Most of them are really good.  This is Donnie McClurkin & Yolanda Adams singing The Prayer.  Trust me, we all need it not just daily, but moment by moment.  Enjoy your Friday Inspiration.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH REVISITED

This is one of those must watch videos. Meet 106 year old Virginia McLaurin. Mrs. McLaurin was born in 1910 when William Taft was president.  She was married at the tender age of 14 and widowed at 17.  She has lived through 18 American presidents.

Two years ago in 2014, McLaurin received an award in her hometown, Washington, D.C. for volunteering. She spends that time with students who have mental disabilities. When she was given the award, she indicated to a reporter that her one wish was to meet the President of The United States. It took two years but she was invited to The White House this year for Black History Month.

McLaurin was so elated to see President Obama and The First Lady that she broke out in a dance.  This is truly a Black History Moment.

“I always tell people, live the best they know how,” she said. “Don’t steal. Don’t cheat.”

DAYBREAK

DAYBREAK

The sun has just peaked over the water

Steadily inching its way upward

Resplendent arrays of colors emerge

Inexplicable patterns appear in the clouds

No two quite the same

The ocean jumps and roars as if its’

Audience is giving a rising ovation.

The cheering crowd then subsides,

But only briefly.  With each

Passing second, the glory ascends

Higher, then momentatily…it pauses

And sits directly on the water.

The birth of this new day has been

Consummated.  whatever else happens

Will be miniscule in comparison.

Have a wonderful day.

ARE YOU TOO CLOSE TO THE MIRROR?

mirror
The lyrics of Too Close To The Mirror (recorded by Eddie Ruth Bradford)
says the following:

“GUESS I’M TOO CLOSE TO THE MIRROR
TO SEE WHAT YOU SEE
WHILE YOU SHOWER DOWN YOUR BLESSING
YOUR BLESSING ON ME
NOT ANYTHING I DONE LORD
FOR AS I CAN SEE
GUESS I’M TOO CLOSE TO THE MIRROR
TO SEE WHAT YOU SEE IN ME”

The magnificent feature about a mirror is that we do not have the capacity to see ourselves as we actually are.  We merely get to see a replication and sometimes that reflection is simply what we hunger to see.  How many of us are misleading ourselves?  It is a good thing that GOD sees us for who we really are.  Don’t be deluded!  It’s not about you anyway!!!
