BECAUSE HE LIVES…

This is a hymn that I remember we sang many years ago in church.  It still has a special place in my heart.  The song is called “Because He Lives.”  AND the lyrics are still soooooooo appropriate today.  HAPPY RESURECTION DAY!

CAN YOU IMAGINE CARRYING A HEAVY CROSS?

This is one of my favorite songs especially this time of year. It is called “The Old Rugged Cross” being sung by Al Green. This is the first time I’ve heard Rev. Green sing this song and he does a great job. According to Scripture, Christians believe that Jesus was raised back from the dead after three days. He had been crucified on the cross and that death is commemorated on what we call Good Friday. The belief also is that Jesus’ death was in payment for our sins as long as we believe in Him…and I do!!! On Easter Sunday, we celebrate His resurrection. Can you imagine carrying a heavy cross and being crucified on it for someone else’s sins? I can’t imagine but… I AM GLAD HE DID.

GREAT MESSAGE

praying-hands

I heard a great message

I went to church today

It had such a great impact

I knew I had to pray

Talked about making an impression

And reaching the next generation

Just to positively influence them

Is in fact a great sensation

Some think it’s about the gift of gab

And all they do is talk

Strap on those persuasive shoes

And then begin to walk

I’m sharing with you the concern

And I’ll just do my part

Hopefully… you’ll join in on this mission

And do what’s in your heart

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MlCHAEL JACKSON

Today marks the 57th birthday of one of the best that ever graced the stage.  Of course I’m talking about…………M    I    C    H    A    E    L……………….

This video is from the 1995 MTV Awards which he shut down completely.  Michael was the type of artist that put on unimaginable shows.  He has so many songs still etched in our memories.  Earlier this year, which happens to be 6 years after Jackson’s untimely death, John Plashal , a photographer, snapped pictures in a thunderstorm in Virginia.  It seems that Michael made a special appearance in the clouds that day.  I know that people see a lot of things in the clouds but you be the judge.  After seeing one of the pictures that Plashal took, a lot of people think that this is the image of a moon-walking the King of Pop himself..  You be the judge of the image below.  Let me know what you think.

There are many activities that will happen today around the nation to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. There are speeches and programs scheduled. In and around the Atlanta area, there are many celebrations including a parade in McDonough, GA. Many people have the day off work. As has been said in the past: Instead of making this a day off, make it a day on for service to mankind. There are many things that one can do to serve others like… donating time at a local Boys and Girls Club, helping the elderly, feeding the homeless, etc.

ATLANTA (AP) — The nation will pause to remember Martin Luther King Jr. with parades, marches and service projects.

King was born Jan. 15, 1929, and the federal holiday is the third Monday in January. In Atlanta, a service will be held at Ebenezer Baptist Church, where King was pastor. In Memphis, Tenn., where King was assassinated, an audio recording of an interview with King will be played at the National Civil Rights Museum. The recording sheds new light on a phone call President John F. Kennedy made to King’s wife more than 50 years ago.

Historians generally agree Kennedy’s phone call to Coretta Scott King expressing concern over her husband’s arrest in October 1960 – and Robert Kennedy’s work behind the scenes to get King released – helped JFK win the White House.

GOOD… TO THE BAD

BAD I mean, as in MICHAEL JACKSON BAD!!!
For those of you who don’t know… Me and Michael go back. Way back to the Ed Sullivan Show December 14, 1969. When he first opened his mouth and sang. I was hooked. Though he’s now deceased, his legend continues. I’m really posting this for the HEAL THE WORLD segment he does at the end but everything in between, speaks to his amazing artistry. With the Super Bowl rapidly approaching, I thought to post THE KING OF POP doing his thing at the 1993 Super Bowl. I’m still waiting on new music from Janet, another one of my favorites. This year’s halftime act is Bruno Mars.
