I couldn’t wait any longer to post this song. I think I post it every year around Christmas. This song is the jam!!! It’s called “Hallelujah! – From Handel’s Messiah: A Soulful Celebration.” This song certainly gets me in the mood for Christmas (not that I need any reason other than the celebration of Jesus’ birth.) With 15 more days to go until Christmas, I just as thrilled as a child at Christmas. I hope each of you enjoy your weekend and I trust you are planning a wonderful Christmas celebration with your family. ‘Tis the season……..to celebrate the BIRTH OF CHRIST!!!
WOW!!! Ali Caldwell closed out the night on “The Voice” yesterday and she did an amazing job. Her cover of “Without You” by Harry Nilsson generated a standing ovation from the audience and all four judges. This performance caused me to want to look at this video several times. She has a really big voice and amazingly a really looooooooooooooooooooong train on the gown she’s wearing. THIS IS A “MUST WATCH” VIDEO!!!!
I love stories that are interesting. This is one of those stories. Ceola Waddell Jr. is a 59 year old homeless man and has bee living at a busy underpass beneath L.A.’s 110 freeway. attitude and lifestyle are now on display for the world to see thanks to the internet. As of late, he has become an internet sensation. Check him out in the video above and peruse the story that I found on daiymail.com
“A homeless man who turned a freeway underpass into his personal paradise by furnishing it with a make-shift jacuzzi and four-poster bed has become a viral hit and unlikely tourist attraction.
Ceola Waddell Jr, 59, began living in the underpass in L.A.’s 110 freeway near Coliseum six months ago.
He has since foraged two porcelain toilets, discarded refrigerators, couches and two beds to transform the space into his personal refuge.
Despite becoming a viral hit thanks to a Facebook video of his dwellings, Waddell Jr faces having it all torn down by city officials.
They say the site is dangerous and that Waddell Jr has turned down their offers for help.
In a virtual tour posted to Facebook earlier this month, the cheery vagrant described the spot as ‘Paradise Lane’.”
Would you pay the $25.00 for a “room” in his “paradise?” You’ve got to give it to this guy, he’s taken a bad situation and made it better by his attitude. Additionally, he’s trying to be an entrepreneur. He better watch himself…. Uncle Sam will be calling!!!
I’m very busy this morning but not too busy to share with you this picture of FLOTUS Michelle Obama’s fashion sense at her final state dinner as a first lady. She is wearing an Atelier Versace gown and simply looks sensational. Her choice of fashion over the years has really set her apart from the majority of first ladies that we’ve seen. She will certainly go down in history as one of the best. If I had time I would post some of her other looks…. but I don’t. Enjoy your day!!!
There are a lot of songs that I really love a lot but…this has to be one of my favorite of all time songs. Every time I hear it, I have to pause because it gives me goose bumps. The song is by Lionel Richie & The Commodores and it is called “Jesus is Love”. It is a very uplifting song and it says so much. I’ll also leave you with the bible verse of the day that I got in my inbox:
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
New International Version
[ Praise to the God of All Comfort ] Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
I think we have all heard the Walter Scott quote that says “oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.” This quote really rang true recently in New York. According to police reports, 17 year old Zachary Sam met Phillip Pierre online regarding the purchase of a pair of Jordan Retro 8 sneakers. The two met and Sam got into Pierre’s vehicle. Sam allegedly pulled out a gun and stole the sneakers from Pierre and then walked away. Apparently adrenaline kicked in and 39 year old Phillip Pierre made a U-turn, and struck the teen with his Honda Pilot. The teen was pinned against the fence and his right arm was completely severed.
The teen tried to jump on an oncoming bus. As Sam got on the bus, he was yanked off by Pierre but managed to get away. Zachary Sam escaped the grasp of the elder Pierre and ran home where he collapsed.
Sam and his severed arm were taken by ambulance to the hospital where he is in stable condition. No word yet as to whether his arm was able to be attached.
Pierre, on the other hand/arm (pun intended) has been arrested for attempted murder. It is going to be interesting to see whether Pierre will be convicted of this crime. I’m sure that there are arguments on both sides but personally I feel that this man should be set free.
I’m sure that attorneys are lined up at the door of the teen Zachary Sam to say that the punishment does not fit the crime. I beg to differ. I think that Pierre definitely acted in the heat of passion even though this teen was no longer a threat to him. Pierre had just been robbed and the problem for him is that he took matters in his own hand instead of getting the cops involved. How many of us would have acted the same given the circumstances? Let me know your thoughts on this one. It is certainly going to be the topic of conversation for a while.
Is a pair of Air Jordan’s worth all of this unnecessary drama? I think not.
I found the article below on popsugar.com and I just had to share it with you. Spring is right around the corner and many of us want/need to shed a few pounds. Sometimes losing weight can be pretty easy but it seems that the older that you get, the harder it gets. Sometimes, I can look at food and gain weight. Below are just a few tips to help u jump start that new weight-loss/workout regimen. The key is being consistent.
Whether it’s 10 pounds or 100 pounds, starting is the hardest part. But there’s no need to make drastic, life-altering changes that you’re not ready for yet. Especially since as soon as you stray from a rigid plan, it’s easy to say, “I already cheated, I might as well give up.” Instead, start off nice and easy with these five manageable changes you can make each day that won’t have you feeling overwhelmed or deprived. They will help get you in the healthy mind-set and on the healthy track, which will only encourage more good-for-you changes.
Swap beverages for water: OK, so you don’t have to give up your beloved morning cup of joe, but for the rest of the day, a reusable water bottle is going to be your best friend. Each time you choose water over juice, soda, sweetened iced tea, and specialty coffee drinks, you’ll save about 100 calories. Aside from that, sipping water also helps fill your belly, prevent bloat from constipation, and keep you hydrated, which prevents that sluggish feeling that causes people to reach for candy bars or cookies.
Make a big salad for lunch: This is good for so many reasons. The veggies are low in calories, so you can eat an enormous bowl without breaking the calorie bank. They’re also full of fiber, which fills you up fast and keeps you feeling satiated longer. Prep for the week by making them ahead in mason jars, which also helps you avoid the temptation of high-calorie lunches. Just be sure to be mindful of the ingredients you use; adding too much dressing, cheese, or other unhealthy items can turn a salad into a worse choice than a Big Mac.
Do one 10-minute workout each day: This tip is for those who don’t exercise a smidge, hate running, don’t want to work out in front of other people at a gym, or have no idea how to get started. Anyone can commit to 10 minutes, and whether you’re into yoga, strength training with weights, or Zumba or have always wanted to try P90X, we have a 10-minute video that’ll motivate anyone to burn some calories. Start with one 10-minute workout each day to get you in the habit of moving, and after seeing the positive results just 10 minutes can have, you’ll be itching to do more.
Keep cut-up fruits and veggies in the fridge: When hunger or boredom strikes and you get that feeling that you need to munch on something, instead of reaching for a bag of chips, head to the fridge and grab one of the containers you’ve premade that contains washed grapes, blueberries, cut-up watermelon, pineapple, strawberries, and kiwi or carrots and celery sticks, strips of bell pepper, or sliced cukes. Put the containers right at eye level so they’re the first thing you see. When healthy foods are already prepared, you’re more likely to choose them over other easily accessible, not-so-healthy snacks.
Use smaller plates and bowls: When we prepare a plate of food, we feel the need to fill it up completely. If you start out with a smaller-sized salad plate or a kid-sized bowl, there’s only so much you can pile on, so you’ll end up consuming fewer calories.
This is another one of those songs that I’m really grooving to nowadays. It is by a singer by the name of Casey J and this one is called “I’m Yours”. The lyrics come up on the video which is real cool and it really helps when you want to remember the words. Let me know if you like this one.
