One of the shows that I watch on television is Tyler Perry’s “The Haves and Have Nots”. On this show you get to see the good, the bad, and the ugly side of things. This is how you end a season….WITH A BANG!!! Last season ended showing the bad….real bad; BUT good for us viewers (lol). I’m posting a clip of how the show ended (so enter at your OWN risk). You’re going to have to catch up on your OWN but in this particular clip, Katheryn invites Veronica and the DA to her home and then does the unimaginable when she confronts and murders the DA in front of Veronica. The new season begins tonight on OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network). I got this note from Tyler Perry yesterday:

MORE POLICE MISCONDUCT

I found the story below on autoblog.com and it is horrific.    The police are at it again.  This lady’s story is both scary and sad.  AND… the video seems to back up her claims that the officers were very much out of line.  What really saddens me most is the fact that these “officers” act like they are on the playground and having fun when in all actuality, they are toying with the lives of individuals like you and me.  Watch the video and tell me if you would have reacted like Mrs. Brown.  I think I would have been terrified!

By Erin Marquis

Reverend Catherine Brown is suing the Chicago Police Department over a 2013 traffic stop where she says she was the victim of excessive force. Her lawyer released the dashboard camera footage of the May 2013 incident last week.

Brown told CBS Chicago she was pulling into her driveway with her two young children in the back seat from an alley when a speeding squad car without lights or sirens on blocked her path. Officers Michelle Murphy and Jose Lopez were in that squad car. She said Murphy jumped out of the car, cursing at Brown and demanding she reverse her vehicle from outside of her home.

“It startled me,” Brown told to CBS. “I reached for my license … the other officer takes the gun and points it at the front of my head.”

Brown called 911 several times. In the tapes, you can hear her 8-year-old and 1-year-old daughters crying in the background. Brown requested a lieutenant or police to come and help her. Instead of waiting for a supervisor, Murphy and Lopez tried to force Brown from her car. Brown reversed her vehicle quickly in terror. The police got back into their own car and chased after Brown. Brown stopped on the main street only to have her car rammed by the Chicago Police car. Brown popped out of her car and started shouting for her neighbors to help. Murphy then pepper-sprayed Brown while Lopez laughed. Murphy then jumped on to a nearby parked car and trained her gun on Brown. Lopez stuck her car with a metal stick, and then both officers participated in the beating.

“Beat me down to my underwear, pulled my skirt off me,” Brown says. “They beat me with the sticks and hit me with their boots in my head.”

Brown was charged with attempted murder because Murphy claimed Brown dragged her while backing out of the alley. She was acquitted on the attempted murder charge, but was convicted of reckless conduct a misdemeanor, for driving in reverse. She’s appealing the conviction.

The Chicago Police Department declined to comment, citing pending litigation. However, the Citizens Police Data Project shows both officers have a history with excessive force. Murphy has had 19 complaints made against her and Lopez has had 21.

IF THIS HAD BEEN MY CHILD….

Another OMG! moment caught on film.  I found this one on youtube.

In Beaumont Texas, this teacher decided that she could actually slap (5 times) and berate a student with no repercussions. In walked…social media and now 63-year old Mary Hastings, a Geometry teacher at Ozen High School, has been arrested and placed on administrative leave.

Information has not been released about what made the teacher so angry but she can be heard in the video saying, “…because you’re stopping him from graduating you idiot @$%^&.”

Another student recorded the exchange and indicated that the incident happened last Friday. Nakisha Burns, Beaumont Independent School District spokeswoman, indicated that “BISD does not condone employees abusing any child and will not tolerate such conduct.” She also stated that “the teacher was immediately removed from the classroom and placed on administrative leave pending action on her contract.”

After being booked in the Jefferson County Jail on a misdemeanor charge of assault, Hastings was released on a $2500 bond.

While I am cognizant that kids can be a handful, in my opinion Hastings should never be allowed in another classroom. If this were my child that she had slapped and berated……….I would be the one facing multiple charges….. (just saying.)

MAILMAN CUFFED IN BROKLYN, NY * CAUGHT ON VIDEO *

Glen Grays, a 27-year-old community-oriented African-American mail carrier is in the news as of late for an incident that occurred just last week on St. Patrick’s day.  According to reports, the incident went down this way:  On the afternoon in question, Grays was backing down off the steps of his mail truck (he is a postal worker) when he noticed a vehicle making a sharp right turn onto the street he was parked on, President St.  Grays immediately climbed back up the steps to avoid getting sideswiped and he yelled at the driver.  The driver in question was in a black car that happened to hold five plainclothes police officers.  In an interview, Gray indicated that the black car came tearing back his way in reverse and the driver said to him “I have the right of way because I’m law enforcement.”

By the time Grays had arrived at 999 President St., the four officers were approaching him.  An innocent bystander began taping the incident at this point and the video can be seen below:  **** WARNING**** VIDEO CONTAINS GRAPHIC LANGUAGE****

In the video, Grays is shown being handcuffed and taken to the unmarked police vehicle.  People can be heard in the background questioning why this incident is occurring.  The five plain clothed white officers can be heard telling Grays to stop resisting arrest.  The video does not show that Gray was resisting.

In a later interview, Glen Grays indicates that he was placed cuffed in the back seat of the unmarked car without a seatbelt.  His mail truck was left unattended.  He also indicated that the driver of the police vehicle turned around to taunt him and hit a vehicle in front of them.  At this point, Grays indicated that this caused him to bang his shoulder against the front seat of the police vehicle.  Grays was taken to the police department and issued a summons for disorderly conduct and then released.

The above video was released by a former police officer, Eric L. Adams (now the Brooklyn borough president).  Adams indicated that he was outraged over “the ostensible violations of the civil rights of yet another young black man, this one an employee of the federal government.”  During a recent press conference Adams said: “It is not a crime for someone to voice outrage after almost being struck by a vehicle … It is not a crime to state that you’re angry at someone who almost hit you. That is not a crime,” Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams stressed.  Here’s how federal law reads: “when any person interferes with the delivery of the US mail.Title 18, USC, Section 1701. Section 1701. Obstruction of mails generally, whoever knowingly and willfully obstructs or retards the passage of the mail, or any carrier or conveyance carrying the mail, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than six months, or both”.  There is nothing in the code that states that cops are exempt from the law. I guess we will see if charges are filed by federal officials

Grays is the oldest of six males in his family. His mother, Sonya Sapp, recently spoke only to say, “I worry about them every day, every minute, every second of every day,” before fading off with, “I’m short on words; I’m just hurt.”

The Police Department has indicated that this incident is “under internal review.” Mayor Bill de Blasio’s deputy press secretary, Monica Klein, added that the mayor would be “in close touch with  Police Commissioner William J. Bratton over this incident’s investigations and findings.”

Mr. Grays’s fiancée is a New York City police officer he met while delivering the mail.  No word yet on her feelings about this incident.

BALTIMORE COP CAUGHT SLAPPING/KICKING STUDENT PART II

cop chargedThis photo provided by the Baltimore Police shows Saverna Bias. Bias and Anthony Spence, two Baltimore schools police officers, have been charged after cellphone video surfaced showing one of them slapping and kicking a teen at a school while a second officer stood by. Both are charged with second-degree assault and misconduct in office. (Baltimore Police via AP)

COPS CHARGED

In a post that I published a week ago on March 3, 2016, the two officers seen in the video have been charged. The incident happened at Reach Partnership School, a middle school in Baltimore, Maryland. A police officer was caught on camera slapping and kicking a student.  At the time of the post, the head of the Baltimore school police force and the two officers seen in this video were placed on administrative leave. Since that time, charges have been filed.

Anthony Spence 44, was charged Tuesday with 2nd degree assault, 2nd degree child abuse by a custodian, and misconduct in office. Saverna Bias, 53, who can also be seen in the background of the video as the child was being assaulted, has been charged with 2nd degree assault and misconduct in office.

According to Baltimore Police Department spokesman TJ Smith, charges were filed after the Special Investigation Response Team investigated this incident.

“The team conducted interviews and gathered evidence related to this case. They consulted with the Baltimore State’s Attorney’s Office after they concluded their investigation. Charges were prepared and filed with the commissioner yesterday evening,” Smith said.

included in the charging document was information that “, a witness told investigators that Bias told her colleague he should smack the teen “because he’s got too much mouth.” Apparently, Spence then hit and kicked the young man. Police also indicated that Spence was not acting in reasonable self-defense or attempting to make an arrest.  Cellphone videos to the rescue…… again!

POLICE BRUTALITY AGAIN… ***WARNING VIDEO CONTAINS FOUL LANGUAGE***

I typically don’t post videos with foul language on this site but… this is one of those instances that I want to show the raw, bitter, real truth as to what happens to individuals, typically black men still here in America.  The police are sure to say that there is something that we don’t see on the video.  Surely you can see from what the man is saying even before the main confrontation… he is minding his own business.  Is that a crime?  “This is what we have to go through in Cincinnati, harassment”  29-year-old Charles Harrell said. “You can’t be a black man and enjoy your morning, because the police are going to harass you in Cincinnati, Ohio.”  Filming his trip, Harrell recorded his interaction with police officer Baron Osterman, who can be seen trailing behind Harrell on a bicycle. Sharing that the police officer asked if he “had a problem,” Harrell noted that this was a normal occurrence in his hometown.

This is senseless and I am so happy that cellphone cameras are now available so that we can see firsthand the injustice that is done in this country.  This really makes me angry and I think that something needs to be done with the overzealous cops.  I’m not going to let this ruin my day but this makes no sense whatsoever!

“OH WHAT A TANGLED WEB WE WEAVE…..”

I think we have all heard the Walter Scott quote that says “oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.” This quote really rang true recently in New York. According to police reports, 17 year old Zachary Sam met Phillip Pierre online regarding the purchase of a pair of Jordan Retro 8 sneakers. The two met and Sam got into Pierre’s vehicle. Sam allegedly pulled out a gun and stole the sneakers from Pierre and then walked away. Apparently adrenaline kicked in and 39 year old Phillip Pierre made a U-turn, and struck the teen with his Honda Pilot. The teen was pinned against the fence and his right arm was completely severed.

The teen tried to jump on an oncoming bus. As Sam got on the bus, he was yanked off by Pierre but managed to get away. Zachary Sam escaped the grasp of the elder Pierre and ran home where he collapsed.

Sam and his severed arm were taken by ambulance to the hospital where he is in stable condition. No word yet as to whether his arm was able to be attached.

Pierre, on the other hand/arm (pun intended) has been arrested for attempted murder. It is going to be interesting to see whether Pierre will be convicted of this crime. I’m sure that there are arguments on both sides but personally I feel that this man should be set free.

I’m sure that attorneys are lined up at the door of the teen Zachary Sam to say that the punishment does not fit the crime. I beg to differ. I think that Pierre definitely acted in the heat of passion even though this teen was no longer a threat to him. Pierre had just been robbed and the problem for him is that he took matters in his own hand instead of getting the cops involved. How many of us would have acted the same given the circumstances? Let me know your thoughts on this one. It is certainly going to be the topic of conversation for a while.

Is a pair of Air Jordan’s worth all of this unnecessary drama? I think not.

The web of deceit continues……….

YEAH, RIGHT……..!

Many years ago…

I take time getting dressed

THE CASE OF RAVEN-SYMONE

“Raven is a really Beautiful, Sweethearted, Human Being. I should know. Her Mother and I Love her Very much and will always support her and have her back. Even if sometimes………. she says some dumb S#%T!”

The above comment comes from the father of the attention-seeking Raven Symone. Raven’s latest comment about not hiring people with “ghetto-sounding” names has sparked a firestorm of controversy and there are many who are calling for her firing.

She shocked her fellow co-hosts on this past Thursday’s episode of ABC’s THE VIEW when she stated that she would never put anyone on the payroll with a “ghetto” name.

”I’m not about to hire you if your name is Watermelondrea. It’s just not going to happen.”

RS

Truthfully, it shouldn’t matter if a person’s name is Friedchickenata (since she wants to go there).  No child comes into this world with the ability to name themselves.  Discriminating against another person for any reason, is a form of bullying.

By the way, Raven(who was apparently named after a black bird) has a domestic partner whose name is Az Marie(does that sound ghetto?).  Pardon me if that offends Ms. Az…………………

I guess when one is going through an identity crisis, such as the one that Raven (the black bird) is going through, one can expect that person to say or do anything.

On Sunday she posted what some are calling an apology.  Here it is:

“I’d like to begin by saying that I was not attacking a specific race, but repeating a name that was said in a viral video which has received over 2 million likes,  “My comment was in poor taste. My lack of empathy towards name discrimination was uncalled for….As an equal opportunity employer, I have never discriminated against a name….even though I said I would, it’s not true. I have been denied many jobs because of my skin color, body size, and age. Each time I was rejected, my self-esteem was negatively affected, so I empathize with those who feel victimized by what I said. We would hope that when it comes to hiring, our names, physical appearance, sexual orientation, and age would never outweigh our qualifications, but often times, they do, that’s the truth and it sucks. But I should not be part of the problem, I should be part of the solution.”

Was all of this gibberish that she wrote because of the public backlash she received after her initial comment.  It must have been or she wouldn’t have made the asinine comment in the first place.  Since this is not the first comment that Raven made to distance herself from people of color, someone decided to try to assist her in moving further along.

Loyal reader A. Renae sent me this letter that is circulating on Facebook.  You’ve got to tell me what you think about it.

Dear white people,

As a 35 year old standing member of the Unbothered
Blacks of America Club, I hereby declare, with a unanimous vote from all other
Blacks of substance, that you guys are free to have raven-symoné.

Initially,
we were pleased to have raven be a part of our community. From the precocious
kid we all grew to love on the Cosby show to the self made multi millionaire who
managed to build an entire empire off of being comedic (but goofy), we felt that
we truly had a gem amongst us.

But as time progressed, we began to notice
attitudinal changes and inconsistencies that do not align with the standards set
forth within our community. From asserting that there are several continents in
Africa to now openly admitting that she wouldn’t hire some one with a “ghetto”
name (when her own name is hyphenated, has an “alternate” spelling, and makes
use of an unnecessary accent…all of which could also be deemed “ghetto”),
we’ve absolutely hopped off our last leg of hope with this young lady, and
again, wish to pass her straight on over to you…effective immediately. Since
you guys are far more consistent with inconsistency and discrimination, we feel
that our offer is substantial but do not need to be thanked for it.

We at
UBAC thank you for taking our offer into consideration. Please respond with
proper mailing details for package receipt and sign the enclosed documents,
which offers detailed biographical information on raven-symoné, a letter of
recommendation via stacy dash (a former member of UBAC that we provided you with
several months ago), and detailed information regarding our “absolutely no
fucking returns” policy, all of which are standard with each offer
sent.

Again, no need to thank us for our generous offer. Typical senses of
entitlement lead us to believe we wouldn’t get one anyway.

You’re
welcome,

Unbothered Blacks of America Club

PS: you may find it extremely
beneficial to offer raven-symoné a few lessons on discrimination within the gay
and lesbian community, as her delusions of grandeur may have helped her to
forget.

PATTI LABELLE ASSAULTS FAN

I don’t always agree with the popular opinion on things and I’m okay with that.  It is others that sometime have the problem with some f these opinions.  Okay, here goes:  First of all, I love Patti Labelle’s music.  I’ve been a fan of hers for years and have seen her in concert two or three times.  She really knows how to entertain her audience.  One of my favorite Patti songs is : “If Only You Knew”.

Recently, Patti appeared in Vancouver and asked a few of her fans to come up on stage to perform with her.  One of the fans took his performance a bit far when he began to take off his shirt.  Patti admonished him for being disrespectful and in the middle of that, the fan basically mooned Patti.  She rushed across stage and assaulted the fan and called him the word that rhymes with Mitch…..

SHAME ON YOU PATTI!!!  She absolutely had no right to lay her hands on this fan or anyone else AND he should sue her.  Okay, there we go:  He should definitely file a suit against her for humiliating him in front of this huge group of people.  One things for sure; nobody gets to lay their hands on another individual without that persons’ approval.  You watch the video and tell me what you think.  I love her music, but not this act that she pulled here.  Let me know what you think.
