This is one of my all-time favorite songs.  I used to listen to it every day on my commute to and from work until it got “missing”.  I thought about the song a few minutes ago and pulled it up.  Listening to it definitely puts me in that peaceful state of mind.  It is by Norman Hutchins  and it is his Praise and Worship Medley.  Trust me, you’re going to love this one.  Be Blessed and have a wonderful Sunday.

Philippians 4:8King James Version (KJV)

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Tonight… it’s going down on Iyanla’s “Fix My Life”.  Iyanyla sits down with Chris Brown’s on and off again girlfriend KARREUCHE TRAN for a no holds barred interview.  You can watch excerpts from tonight’s show below.  This stuff that we see in the news is so far-fetched sometimes that there is no way you can make this stuff up.I will probably be watching college basketball when this is on but trust me… the DVR will be running.  Yep, I’ve told you before:  I have this thing for reality TV. If you have Oprah’s OWN, check your local listing to see what time it will be on in your area.

I got the following email from Tyler Perry yesterday and I’m sharing it with you.  If you’re in one of these areas and want to get your laugh on, make sure you get tickets to see…MADEA ON THE RUN. This is absolutely crazy but true.  A 38-year old Bronx NY police officer who is also a pastor has been arrested for having an affair with a 16 year old girl.  The affair allegedly lasted approximately 7 months and he met the young teen at a youth church program.

pastor cop

According to NY Daily News reports:

Officer Vladimir Sosa, a seven-year NYPD veteran, was arraigned Tuesday night in Bronx Criminal Court on third-degree rape, sexual misconduct and child endangerment charges.

Sosa is an evangelist who studied theology at the United Christian College in North Carolina, according to his Facebook page.

He is affiliated with the Iglesia Metodista Libre El Remanente on E. 180th St. in Tremont, the Bronx, where he met the teen, but often travels to preach at other houses of worship, said colleague Fernando Gonzalez, who helped found the church in 2001.

Gonzalez couldn’t believe the charges the Bronx cop is facing.

“It’s not true,” he said, adding that he’s always trusted Sosa with his three daughters. “It’s being made up.”

“Vladimir might have been trying to help the female in question with her spiritual life,” he said. “It might have happened that because of her young age, she confused the situation.

Apparently the girls mother found some questionable texts between her daughter and the cop and she confronted her daughter.  The girl admitted the affair to her mom who in turn got the police involved.  The arrested pastor/cop, Sosa, claims that he is innocent and has never been alone with the young lady.  However, a family friend of the girl who wants to remain anonymous says that is far from the truth.

“She’s doing very bad … she used to be a top student, a virgin, a girl that was in love with God and this man seduced her,” said a family friend of the girl, who also knew Sosa. “She is crying, very depressed … I can say that he destroyed her life.”

The three times that Sosa allegedly had consensual sex with the young lady happened at the apartment that Sosa shares with his mother.  Sosa was arrested and released on his own recognizance.

I can’t wait for your feedback on this one.  This is wrong on so many levels.

Kirk Franklin Calls Out Creflo Dollar – Donations for $65M Plane Curtailed

I found this video and article online and wanted to share it with you. Kirk Franklin’s comments on this issue are on point in my opinion. You decide for yourself what you think. Let me know.

Black America Web

Kirk Franklin is weighing in on Creflo Dollar’s campaign to raise money to purchase a Gulfstream G-650 jet , which is valued at $65 million. And he is not happy with the megachurch pastor.

In Franklin’s eyes, it’s “a shortage of character” when more attention is paid to a luxury private jet when there are folks around the world who are suffering.

“When a pastor wants people to buy him a private plane while a missionary in Somalia bathes children with sores, that’s a shortage of character,” Franklin stated last week in a post on Patheos.com titled “The High Cost of Character.” “When I camouflage my ‘greeds’ to look like ‘needs,’ that’s a shortage of character.”

Franklin’s comments come amid the backlash Dollar has received for his campaign. In a video message last week, Dollar stated that he needed a new jet to spread the gospel.

Today is Sunday and many people attend the church of their choice.  Most churches are filled with mostly women.  I’m not really sure why.  A lot of “salesmen” typically cater…to women for one reason or another.   What I am sure about is that churches are BIG BUSINESS!  Not only that,  though I do attend church regularly, I find that there seems to be an issue in part with organized religion.

One of the major problems with organized religion is this money component that seems to be extremely prevalent.  I’ve heard of many pastors who not only preach but they also handle the purse strings at their church as well.  This leads to “absolute power” and… as I heard stated earlier in life:  ABSOLUTE POWER RUINS!  When I first heard this phrase, I really did not understand it.  As I grew older and exposed to various and sundry things, I certainly came upon the realization of what that phrase means.

When an individual has ABSOLUTE POWER it brings about corruption.  One would think that the church would be the last place that you would find corruption, yet that is not the case.  I think we all have seen news stories where preachers have been arrested for taking money from their congregation.  Recently a Delaware pastor, Eric Sapp was sentenced to 5 years probation  for stealing more than $56,000 from Grace Baptist Church. In Houston, an associate pastor, Russell Thompson, is charged with felony theft of $250,000.  In Cleveland, Pastor Merita White, was convicted of stealing $150,000 from a member of her congregation, Mattie Cunningham. There are more stories of this than I care to repeat.

Basically, organized religion often causes competition between different religions and it forces people to lose focus on the major theme set forth in the Bible.  That theme is LOVE. There are many who call some of these pastors PIMPS IN THE PULPIT because of their emphasis on dollars rather than biblical sense.

I am posting the top 10 list of the richest pastors in the world.  I think this list is from a year ago and I’m pretty sure that Joel Olsteen is in the top 10 but they do not have him on this list.  I think I saw somewhere that his net worth is estimated at $40 million dollars.  Am I saying that they are stealing from their congregations?  Most definitely not!  What I am saying is that the church of today is BIG BUSINESS and… everything you see, is not what you see.  I hope you see what I mean.

You’ve got to see this video.  If you have a heart, you will definitely be moved.  The video is a social experiment that happened in Canada.  The set-up:  A scantily-clad young boy is out on a cold day homeless and begging.  He then gets in his trash bag and lies down on the sidewalk.  You can tell that he is freezing cold.  People continue to walk by him until………..

If this had been an animal, how many people do you think would walk by like they did this young boy.  Are our priorities on correctly?  I know that we see so many homeless people on the street corners begging for money or food and we’ve become a bit desensitized but wow… This video here really puts it all in perspective.  Notice how many people stop to be nosey after the one man stops.

Yesterday I attended an event for Toastmasters.  Toastmasters is a learn by doing workshop that assists individuals in becoming more confident leaders and speakers.  It is a safe environment that allows you to proceed at your own pace.  This event yesterday was a club celebration and had a standing-room only crowd.  I happened to be standing by the young gentleman in the video above.  His indication is that he plans to become a motivational speaker one day.  He has a number of speeches that he has posted on Youtube.com but today I’m posting this piece that he posted earlier today called “What’s Holding You Down?”  Let me know what you think about this up and coming motivational speaker.

In the event that you are interested in Toastmasters, go to Toastmasters.org and there you can enter your zip-code and find a club near you.  It is a great organization to be affiliated with.
