President Obama Makes History….. Again

On the day that Americans celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, we also celebrated the 2nd Inauguration of our 1st African-American President, Barak Hussein Obama.
2013 was the first year that the inauguration fell on the same day of the MLK Jr. celebration. And a celebration it was.
Among the thousands to flock to the nation’s capitol to help the again elected Obama kick off his second term in the White House were prominent names like Beyoncé (who sang the National Anthem), James Taylor, Stevie Wonder, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, and Alicia Keys.
The 800,000-1 million attendees as well as the millions who tuned in on tv to watch were treated to a poignant speech which was 2,137 words long and took 15 minutes to deliver.
Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts administered the oath of office to President Barack Obama during the Inaugural swearing-in ceremony at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., Jan. 21, 2013.
“America’s possibilities are limitless,” said Obama, “for we possess all the qualities that this world without boundaries demands: youth and drive; diversity and openness; an endless capacity for risk and a gift for reinvention. My fellow Americans, we are made for this moment, and we will seize it — so long as we seize it together.”
What a powerful way to begin this new year. May his declaration of togetherness be the bridge to the gap that has for far too long separated us.
